Get Rid of WordPress Update Nag in Admin

Sometimes I just don’t feel like upgrading WordPress either because i’m lazy, or the update isn’t large enough.  One thing that always annoyed me was that stupid “WordPress X.X.X is available! Please update now.” banner across the top of the admin.

Well here’s an easy fix I found:

  • Open up “wp-admin/includes/update.php
  • Remove/comment the line that says (Line 44 for me): echo “<div id=’update-nag’>$msg</div>”;
  • Save it and you’re done!

Easy as that!
