While trying to hold off competition like Google and Craigslist, eBay will be lowering the cost of posting something for sale by as much as 50%!
I’m not sure if this is actually going to help out that much. There have been a lot of other things with eBay that have prevented me from using it. Like lack of customer service for one. I’m guessing they just expect you to deal with the seller rather than through them. I mean, they don’t even have a phone number listed on their site! What a load of crap. If you are going to have a website where you are the mediator to people selling things, you better have a decent customer service set up.
For that reason alone I have also steered way clear of eBay. Not to mention buying products from some random Joe Schmoe. Just doesn’t stack up in my opinion.
Although I didn’t see it mentioned, eBay better be watching out for Amazon.com. Amazon happens to be one of my favorite places to buy things and I’m always suckered into buying things all the time. They have much stricter policies for the seller and on top of that, you don’t have to deal with the whole auction bull shit. You’re probably thinking that you always get things at auctions a lot cheeper than anywhere else, well you’re wrong!! I buy all of my books for school off of Amazon and I get them around %50 cheeper than the ones being sold here at my school. That’s just one example.
Wow enough promoting Amazon, I sound like a infomercial. My main point was that eBay is dropping their listing fee. So if you use eBay a lot, that’s awesome for you! However, if you don’t use eBay, maybe this will be a reason to start using it.
What do you think?
